We’re back! Blogger gal pal, Emily of Dear Serendipity, and I wanted to focus on a trend we’re both seriously digging lately – kicking it back to the 70s. If you remember, we’ve teamed up in the past for other posts – see here & here. When kicking around ideas this time around, it seemed like a no-brainer to each do our take on the latest trend for spring. Checkout our two takes on this one trend!
Top: Otte New York (yellow no longer available; runs large size down) // Skirt: J.Crew (on sale!) // Belt: Hermes // Hat: Free People // Bag: Mansur Gavriel (sold out; restocking soon!) // Shoes: Schutz (on sale!) // Ring: David Yurman // Earrings: John Hardy via Lewis Jewelers
So as I’ve said previously (see here and here) the 70s trend has been a spring favorite of mine. I am just loving flowy skirts and tops – I picked up this Free People floppy hat back in february for NYFW (last seen here), which came in handy during the snow storms, and I’m still finding reasons to wear it back home in Houston. The modernity comes from the jewelry of course, the belt to split up the mixed media of metallics and pastel silks as well as the it bag.
Funny story, I spent the better part of an entire day trying to buy my Mansur Gavriel mini bucket bag. The thing is, for some reason they just gave a date – they didn’t say a time in which the site would be reloaded with the coveted bags. So every :30 and every :60 I’d click refresh about one hundred times and be super disappointed when the same “coming soon” phrase & photo remained on the screen. Just about to give up (around 3:15pm), I happened to refresh one last time before I planned to close out of my window, and lo-and-behold… the beauties were there and restocked in their glory.
People have asked me how did I get it? Quite frankly the five minutes I spent on the Mansur Gavriel site were a complete blur. I have the many hours of refreshing to thank because during that time, I did some ample research on what I wanted and how to get it. Turns out the bags sold out in less than four minutes, and the only reason I was lucky enough to get one was because I used PayPal as my method of payment – the website was and previously has been so back-logged with people trying to nab a Mansur for themselves that the point of purchase system just can’t take it! So word to the wise, when these babies come back in May, pay with PayPal!!!
Oh and I love my bag – the perfect amont of simplicity, it’s lightweight and it has an ode to decades past. Hope you have a great weekend! I’m signing off to spend time with my family for the Easter holiday! xx
