Hi friends, welcome to the 11th installment of coffee talk! Can you believe it, we’ve made it to double digits in this series. I’ve really appreciated your love for my candor and honesty in these chats. But I have to admit in writing these each week, I’ve come to realize my life is kind of, well… boring.
I think after this week’s events in the UK, we can all agree that it’s been a little tough to focus on other tasks at hand or really on life in general. I for one have been glued to the TV pretty much since the initial reports of the attack and haven’t really given much time to anything else of substance since. I’ve been praying for the victims of the attack, both parents and children alike.
Yes, I worked all day yesterday, but our house is still an ‘incubus of viral plague’ (anyone get that reference?), as Rick and I are still getting over our colds – his a respiratory infection and mine a virus. I’ve never personally been sick this late into spring/early summer and it’s really been a downer.
Since a large part of the week has been spent working from bed, I’ve had a chance to catch up on tons of TV shows, magazines, you name it. I still have yet to find a book that has really caught my interest, but still searching. Leave any book recommendations in the comments, please!!
I hate to admit it, but I just really couldn’t get into the premier of the Bachelorette on Monday. Perhaps it was with the new breaking, or that it’s just a whirlwind of hoopla the first few episodes (in my opinion), but after about 45 minutes I turned it off. Don’t get me wrong, I like Rachel, but after the past few seasons where I’ve spent every Monday tuning in, only to be pretty disappointed (with the exception of JoJo and Jordan), I’ve decided to keep the disappointment at bay and wait until we get a little deeper into the season to tune in.
I did watch the teaser for the entire season and things look interesting. I definitely have to admit about 50% of me watches the latter episodes to see what exotic and unique destinations the contestants travel to. Anyone been to Sweden? I saw they’ll be heading there, and I’m pretty excited to see it – one of my bucket list destinations!
I’m also caught up on my guilty pleasure: Southern Charm. There’s something so endearing about reality TV that follows good ‘ole Southern folks around in their ‘dramatic’ lives. I really enjoyed Charleston when I visited a few years ago, so part of me watches to see more of the adorable city. Of course, then I get sucked into the spinoff that is Southern Charm Savannah.
Is it just me? I want to not watch SC Savannah, but it’s definitely one of those instances where you can’t rip your eyes away because a train wreck is happening before your eyes… anyone else agree? Although it does make Savannah look as equally as charming of a town as Charleston, so I’ve added it to my travel list too.
As I mentioned last week, we don’t have any plans this weekend. Making me feel a heck of a lot more boring than I though previously. Oh well, it’ll be good to be homebodies this weekend, since we were in Dallas last weekend and I can try to get some more work done around our house.
Sorry for the lack of compelling content in this week’s chat, but as I said, things are a little slow around here! I’ll be back with a fun outfit link-up tomorrow and a sale round-up for the holiday weekend on Friday.
Now for things I’m loving:
– Nordstrom began marking down designer items this week, up to 40% off. I used a gift card I’ve had since Christmas, and splurged on these Stuart Weitzman sandals. I’ve read great things about them and I’m super excited to wear them through the summer. If you’re on the hunt for a designer splurge item or two, then you’re in luck. My favorite Chloe scalloped flats are on sale (last seen here) in multiple colors; my favorite pair of sunglasses (still wearing them, and last seen here) are on sale in multiple color combinations; plus the cutest hot pink mini Ferragamo crossbody bag, oh so perfect for summer! There’s also an absolutely adorable light blue Burberry trench coat on sale, #swoon!
– I came across this awesome list of 10 healthy weeknight dinners and will definitely be printing a few of these recipes out for later use! I’m dying to try the zucchini noodles with mini chicken feta and spinach meatballs and the one-pan coconut shrimp noodle bowls.
– When we were up in Dallas this last weekend, Rick and I made a special trip to the outlets to checkout the new arrivals and deals at J.Crew Factory. We both snagged quite a few things at great prices (40% off new arrivals!) for the warmer weather ahead. I grabbed a few of these striped tie-waist tees and am hoping to snag this gingham shirt in my size online. Rick snagged a few button-downs including this adorable madras print. I’ve also got my heart set on this tie-front bandeau bikini in the most adorable lemon print!
– I posted this rather brilliant, open letter to Instagram on my personal Facebook page a few days ago and received a lot of likes. If you’re a fellow blogger or just a regular Instagram peruser, then chances are you’ve been more than affected by the algorithm change. If you’re as peeved as me, then you’ll really identify with the letter, check it out.

I think the Bachelorette this season looks interesting. I think Rachel will be smart with her decisions though! But the first couple of episodes are always hard for me to get into.

I really like Rachel but found the Bachelorette premier really boring too! I only watched the first half then grabbed a bowl of ice cream and a book…shh don’t tell anyone! I’m hoping it will get more interesting next week. Some weeks we are all a little bit boring so don’t feel too guilty about it. I think Stuart Weitzman makes such great high quality shoes, I hope you love them!

The Nordstrom sale is going to kill my wallet haha.

The news has been pretty tough to watch lately. On a positive note, anytime Nordstrom has a sale it’s always so good!

OMG I felt the same way about the Bachelorette premier! I was so disconnected! I think it was just boring, like wait too much happening at once and cramming to much in too short of a time. Based on the season promo though I think it will pick up and get better!

First of all, I LOVE that coffee mug! And my guilty pleasure show is Pretty Little Liars…haha

The events in Manchester were so sad!! But this is actually the first season I’ve tuned into the Bachelor franchise and I’m not mad at it (besides Lucas)

The Bachelorette premier was a little to watch after hearing the news in UK. I too felt disconnected, but I’m not sure if it’s because I had other things going on that night, busy catching up with friends, the news, etc.
