Happy mid-week friends! We’ve made it to Wednesday, have any fun plans this latter part of the week? It’s been rather low-key over here, which I’m totally okay with. We’re finally seeing sunny weather, it had been raining endlessly last weekend and Monday.
We did have an exciting wedding gift arrive this past weekend. Some serious #adulting over here, but I have to talk about my mild-excitement for finally getting our grill! It’s so funny what kind of gifts you get excited about as you get older, right?
I grew up in a family that grilled really often, Filets, burgers, Lamb chops, you name it and Rick wanted to start getting into the hobby. So needless to say, a grill was high up on our registry list.
I’ve really been loving cooking again, since I finally have someone that appreciates it besides just myself! Does anyone else have this feeling? I think for me, part of the love for cooking is seeing the people eating it enjoy what you made.
We decided to break in the new grill pretty quickly and cook on it Saturday night. We grabbed Filets at Costco Saturday afternoon and Rick looked up grilling pointers from Bobby Flay (find it here). We marinated the steaks super natural with simply Olive Oil, salt and pepper. I made baked, scalloped rosemary potatoes and asparagus for sides. The rain even held off enough for us to get the steaks on the grill. It was so fun to do the cooking in a tag team effort and we loved enjoying our stay-at-home date night at our new dining room table, too.
Do any of y’all grill, have parents/husbands/boyfriends that grill? Share some recipes we need to try below in the comments!
For other things I’ve been cooking: I made homemade Banana bread (and added walnuts) yesterday – it’s delicious! For dinner last night I took the easy route and found some frozen Turkey Bolognese sauce from Trader Joe’s last week and put it over zucchini noodles (zoodles) with parmesan. Rick and I loved it! If you’d like to see more recipes and food content, let me know!
Now for things I’m loving:
– I’ve been experiencing major issues with my the natural oils in my scalp being way too oily! So bad in fact, that it sometimes looked like I didn’t wash my hair for days, when I actually did earlier that morning. My friends at Aveda recently sent me some of their latest products to try and included was the Aveda Pramasana Purifying scalp cleanser. Y’all, this stuff is the holy grail! It was so easy to use, I applied and rubbed in per the directions then shampooed and conditioned my hair like normal. My hair looked and felt so great after I blow dried it. Highly recommend this product!
– My friend Emily recently posted these adorable slides on her Instagram (see here) and they are so perfect for summer! Under $80 and come in three colors, but I’m personally partial to the red/orange shade. I’m definitely going to be grabbing these in-time for our trip to the lake over the Fourth of July. Also catching my eye, these super cute embroidered espadrille flats.
– As y’all know, I recently had balayage done to my hair, so this article about how to maintain your color-treated hair really resonated with me. Wanted to share with you, for any that might color your hair. These tips and tricks definitely are worthwhile.
– If you’re in need of any hostess/birthday/bachelorette gifts, then you definitely need to check out this adorable store I love, White Elephant Designs. How stinking adorable is this embroidered basket tote? These top knot earrings would make for the perfect gift for your bestie. And I’m pretty sure it’s safe to say we all need this adorable flamingo drink holder for our upcoming summer pool parties!

Ah those slides are THE best! They would be perfect for the 4th!

This is going to sound so weird. But I grew up on my dads grilled hot dogs. The secret is to cut them open and put ketchup in them BEFORE your grill them. I’m telling you, your life will change!

My boyfriend grills a lot but it’s mostly steaks or chicken! He does try a lot of different marinades and stuff but I keep out of it!

I’m obsessed with our grill! Well, I kind of have no choice… our house doesn’t have a full kitchen lol so we grill almost every night. And I am loving all of the things you are loving! Especially those earrings.
