Hey y’all, happy Wednesday! It’s been a hot minute since my last coffee talk. Sorry about that, traveling got the best of me last week and I’d rather give you something to actually talk about rather than just throw a post up for the sake of it, right? With said traveling, getting situated back into our everyday routine has been a little difficult this week. Needless to say, I’m glad we are at the midweek point and that much closer to the weekend!Â
Our trip to wine country last week was a dream! We had so much fun exploring the adorable town of Healdsburg (North of Napa, in Russian River Valley) and absolutely loved drinking vino and trying out the eats. Have you ever been or heard of Healdsburg? It’s so charming!
I don’t want to ruin my full city guide coming to the blog in a few weeks, but we had some amazing tastings and stayed at the cutest hotel called 235 Luxury Suites just outside the town square. The weather was warmer during the day than we were expecting, but true to California fashion the temperatures dropped as the sun went down and we definitely needed a sweater or fleece.
I can’t wait to share our trip with you sooner rather than later!
After our time in wine country, we drove back South to visit my dad who lives in Silicon Valley. He lives in the Mountains, which about a 10 minute drive west leads to the ocean, right near Half Moon Bay. We got to have some good family time and took Rick to Palo Alto so he could see the Google Campus.
I had actually never been to the Google campus. I couldn’t believe how big it was! What’s crazy too is everywhere you look there are people riding the Google bikes (these bikes) and they actually are quite a nuisance to people who live around there. My dad was telling us apparently they just leave them wherever they want across the surrounding cities (Mountain View, Los Altos, Palo Alto etc.). This article accounts how the Google bikes are getting stolen too.
Silicon Valley is such a completely different place (world) compared to Texas! I suppose I work in an aspect of tech too, considering I have a blog and all, but I definitely feel like I might stick out like a sore thumb a bit. I’ve gotten coffee quite a bit in coffee shops around the Palo Alto area, and pulled out my computer to work, but am always finding myself listening to other people’s conversations – it’s just a world of it’s own in the tech bubble.
If you’re reading and live in the Bay Area, please tell me your thoughts in the comments, I’d love to hear what you think. Do you work in the tech industry? How do you feel about self-driving cars? (Yes, this is a major thing in Palo Alto!)
Now for things I’m loving:
– I’ve really been drawn to classic basics for my wardrobe lately and wanted to share some of the pieces I’m loving from Everlane. If you’ve never heard of the brand, they’re all about being transparent to the customer, controlling their factories and sourcing their own products. I love this colorful v-neck dress. These loose, open neck tees are only $15! And y’all this $98 leather clutch is a perfect closet staple.
– So I know I’ve been a broken record about the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, but there are a few things I haven’t yet shared that I’m loving in the athletic wear department. These high waist crop leggings are awesome, y’all! These are my favorite no-show socks, I wear them with my Converse and Superega sneakers all the time, during the sale they’re under $10. This training tank comes in three different colors and is perfect for summer workouts. Lastly, these rose gold Nike sneakers give me all the heart eyes.
– Here in Houston the humidity is killer on my hair. The frizz is real. So I’m definitely going to try these Easy Steps to Frizz-Free Summer Hair via Glitter Guide.
– I did want to share a new-to-me makeup brand that I’ve really come to enjoy. I grabbed a set of Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks recently and I am loving the formula and how moisturizing they are. I’ve heard great things about this Healthy Glow moisturizer and think it’s kinda cool that men can use it too. I’m also really wanting to try these eyeshadow pencils. I love eyeshadow pencils because they’re so easy and quick to throw in your makeup bag and go.

I don’t live in the bay area, but in general I don’t trust self-driving cars… I just don’t think technology is there yet to really make it work and have no accidents. The concept itself is super innovative tho!!

I love reading where other bloggers go to get their basics/essentials because they’re such necessities to a wardrobe! I’ve heard nothing but good things about everlane, so I definitely need to check their clothes out. x, nicole // http://www.nicoleeigh.com
