I don’t think words can aptly begin to describe what the Gulf Coast and Houston went through during Harvey and following the hurricane’s deadly landfall. The utter devastation so many people have endured is absolutely heartbreaking, and I still cry at least once a day. Harvey moved on, but Houston has an extremely long road ahead.
Although things have not returned back to normalcy for so many Texans, I’m personally working towards taking a step in the right direction by doing my best to help my friends who lost everything, volunteer for those in need and get back into the blogging groove. Without further ado, let’s launch into today’s new post featuring the casual everyday outfit I’ve worn all summer long.
Shirt (on sale!) // Jean shorts (on sale for $14!!) // Belt (gently used here; budget-friendly option) // Espadrilles (on sale!) // Sunglasses // Earrings // Clutch (on sale!) // Large cuff bracelet // Small cuff bracelet // Station bracelet
While Rick and I were so lucky to escape Harvey unscathed, so many others were not. The question I’ve found myself asking over and over again, is where do we go from here? A large part of Texas is hurting and will continue to hurt for quite some time.
After big internal debate, I have been so worried that resuming regular posting would come off as extremely insensitive, I’ve decided (with encouragement from friends) that regular posting is what we all need. We’ve been through a horrific disaster. And what I hope to offer is a little escape – an escape for myself in getting back to putting together posts and writing, and an escape for others who want to peruse online without thinking about their flooded home for 5-10 minutes.
I plan to launch a little more into experiencing a massive flooding event firsthand in a separate post, but today I want to chat this casual everyday outfit.
I’d be lying if I didn’t tell you I’ve worn some sort of combination of this outfit once a week this entire summer. It’s been really sticky and hot here in Houston and the linen shirt and jean shorts combo just works for a summer casual everyday outfit. Plus I’ve been wearing my Hermes belt like crazy (see the most recent post highlighting it, here).
We’re expecting a little reprieve from the hot weather the next few days, but I’ll definitely be wearing some sort of casual everyday outfit like this until fall finally rolls around.
