I quickly changed into another adorable vintage short sleeved sweater and skirt for the remainder of day four at NYFW (see what I wore for the morning here). If you can tell by the photos, the day’s weather quickly changed from a gorgeous, sunny one to a cloudy and rainy afternoon.
Armed in my most comfortable heels and a pair of Yosi Samra flats in my purse (just in case!), I headed to the #rsNYFW party at the Hotel Americano. It was fun to mingle with other bloggers I’d met through emails or Instagram and finally put faces to names. Luisaviaroma and Nike were on hand as us bloggers gracefully took cover from the rain and sipped on delicious drinks.
From there I headed to the Jenny Packham Ss16 show. I was super excited for this show (more to come on that later), and absolutely loved the modernity of the Packham woman and what the SS16 collection had to offer. I met up with a new friend, Laura, whom I had met the day before and the show and we hopped in an Uber over to a new designer for me, Georgine.
Let me just say, this show was absolutely divine. In a rather cozy venue at Moynihan Station the glitz and glamour of the show was seriously memorable. The colored fur was on a completely different level and I left with all the heart eye emojis dancing in my head.
From there we hopped back into an Uber (there were A LOT of Ubers and cabs taken over the course of my trip!!) and headed downtown to the Mode NYFW party. It was so much fun to get to meet a large part of this e-family for the first time. I ran into some old faces and new ones and had so much fun getting to know other bloggers and people behind the Mode team.
This party was in one of the World Trade Center buildings, and when Laura and I left, we took a wrong turn that ended up leading us into the underground tunnels that filter into One World Trade Center. I have to say it was definitely a back-to-Earth moment for me. Being in a place that I knew had once been tarnished with such hatred and forever changed was seriously humbling. We took the route in silence, taking in the architecture and the plaques detailing the history of the space. We made it outside and looked up to see the World Trade Center high above us. It was definitely a sight to see, as I personally haven’t been to the site since they’ve finished the new building.
It’s definitely easy to get caught up in the hoopla that is NYFW. I admit, I am guilty of it and did have a seriously memorable time. But, I am so glad we took that wrong turn out of the restaurant. It was something I needed, fate if you will, to bring me back to reality and realize that there are much bigger things in the world than fashion and clothing. To be standing on ground where innocent people lost their lives and fought to save others, was truly humbling and I am so grateful that I had that time around the World Trade Center Sunday evening.
