As you know, we are inching closer and closer to our January wedding date! I’ve kept you in the loop for part of our engagement journey (previous posts here), and today I’m thrilled to be sharing a sneak peek of our engagement photos with our amazing photographer Nancy Aidee.
Those who told me to cherish this time weren’t kidding! Being engaged to Rick has been so much fun (albeit, stressful at times), but we’ve learned so much more about ourselves and really worked to become one – the team that we will eventually be, come January.
We took our photos a few weeks ago in an area of Houston that was new to me, but apparently a hot-spot for family photos and the like. The North-South area, near Rice University is absolutely beautiful and so timelessly classic for couples photos. To be completely honest, I actually had a really hard time finding the perfect dress for our engagements. I knew I wanted it to be something that in future years, I could look back and still be happy with how I looked in the photos. I tried a lot of dresses, but ultimately found a winner with the help of David’s Bridal.
I had always thought of David’s Bridal as a wedding gown and bridesmaid dress store only, but to my surprise, it is so much more than that. David’s Bridal actually offers a huge selection of ‘little white dresses’, perfect for so many events leading up to the wedding. The cap sleeve lace is even perfect for a bridal shower, the rehearsal dinner or even a second reception dress.
David’s Bridal has over 60 years of experience dressing women for all of life’s special occasions, so when I found the engagement photo dress I’d been searching high and low for, I knew it was from a brand I could trust. Since we chose to do only one location and one outfit (keeping things simple, people!), I knew I wanted my dress to be something that I would wear again. Enter a chic lace cap sleeve dress, with the most flattering silhouette for so many brides-to-be. This number will definitely be coming along in my suitcase for our honeymoon, dressed down with sandals for a beachside dinner.
If I can offer one piece of advice, it’d be this: don’t rush your engagements. Even though Rick and I got engaged in February, we waited until the fall to take these photos. I had ample amount of time to look for the perfect dress and be happy with my decision. The moments captured were made that much more special for us and our little family, including #LucytheTerrierMix, and I know we will cherish these photos for years to come.
On Alex: Dress c/o // Heels // Pearl necklace (similar) // Hair & Makeup: Hey Lovely Makeup
On Rick: Blazer // Shirt // Jeans // Belt // Shoes
