I try not to get too wrapped up in beauty fads and trends, but I can’t deny that I fell for the jade roller a few years ago, and I still love it. I’m excited to share with y’all my top 3 benefits of the jade facial roller and why I love it.
Jade roller (mini version here) // Monogrammed pajama set c/o // Throw blanket
The jade facial roller is an age old tool that dates back to Asian cultures many, many centuries ago. The stone Jade is considered to hold both healing and protective properties. Chances are you’ve probably seen your favorite beauty blogger post about the jade facial roller. The number of benefits the jade roller offers are plentiful. Benefiting from them is as easy as rolling the tool across your face for a few minutes each day.
I tend to use my jade roller most often in the mornings. I find that it helps with things like puffiness, drainage and dark circles. I’ll tell you, I didn’t see immediate results, but after using regularly for a few weeks, I certainly noticed a difference.
I like to keep my jade roller in the fridge, so it gets extra cold and refreshing when rolling across my face. When I use my jade roller, I roll upwards and outwards on my face. For example, when I roll it underneath my eyes, I roll it outwards towards my temples at a gentle speed.
3 Benefits of the Jade Facial Roller
Reduction of inflammation and puffiness
The jade stone is inherently cool, and even cooler when kept in the fridge. When rolled on the skin, this crystal stone massages out inflammation or puffiness that naturally happens to our face after laying down flat all night.
For me, using the jade facial roller every morning has quite literally been life changing. Before using it, I’d notice how puffy my face looked for multiple hours in the morning. Now with the jade roller, I’m speeding up the rate at which the inflammation and puffiness in my face goes away.
The morning massage definitely is worth every moment of my time, as it’s significantly changed the way my face naturally looks in the AM.
Assist in lymphatic drainage
Underneath our skin is a myriad of lymphatic system that circulates the liquid in our bodies, smoothes out our muscle tissue and eliminates toxins. A healthy lymphatic system assists in improving the appearance of our skin, improves our circulation and blood flow, plus drains congested lymph nodes.
Lymphatic drainage is crucial to decreasing our swelling and liquid retention, so of course using a jade roller as an assistant to the regular ole’ lymphatic massage, makes complete sense. And I don’t know about you, but I’m all about a detox that doesn’t require me to drink solely juices or Aloe Vera to cleanse my system. However, after my kidney stone episode, I’ve added Aloe Vera drinks 2x a day into my routine.
One of the biggest benefits I’ve noticed with using the roller, is a lack in headaches. Although not entirely proven, there’s a supposed correlation between the stimulation of the lymphatic system and the promotion of healing + reduction of headaches.
Apparently the lack of movement from the lymph system can cause the fluid to withhold toxins and tension (hello headaches!) that we hold in our face daily from clenching our jaws and other stressors, ultimately resulting in blockages.
Reduce the appearance of fine lines
Although I’m still in my 20s, I consider skincare one of my most important routines. Just because I may not be experiencing full-on aging just yet, doesn’t mean I can’t adopt a skincare routine that counteracts premature signs of aging. I’ve always believed you can never start too early with skincare (find my latest favorites in skincare products here).
With that being said, I don’t have too many fine lines yet, but I’ll use whatever tools help in reducing their appearance! I definitely have a few laugh/squint lines around the edges of my eyes, and using the jade roller has reduced them ever so slightly. I like to use the smaller end around my eye area, in an upwards and outwards motion. I’ll even use facial oil along with my jade roller, to add in additional antioxidants, vitamins and moisture to my skin. Simply pat the face oil on your face and then use the jade roller to lock in the moisturizer.
I also really believe in the GloPro micorneedling tool and plan to share a review on that soon.
While I believe the benefit of the roller may be different for every person, if there’s a natural way to reduce the appearance of fine lines, without injections and other procedures, I’m all for trying it!
