The ultimate, timeless button down shirt – the AYR Deep End. It’s a cult-favorite for a reason.
The perfectly oversized Deep End button down shirt is worth every penny and more. And every so often you can snag them on sale… Let me tell you why I love it!
AYR Deep End Review
I initially was introduced to , back in 2015 when I went to their showroom in NYC and tried on a few pieces. Their denim is truly a dream. That trip I bought myself a pair of dark-wash skinny jeans and a beautiful black blazer. Both timeless classics, that stand the test of time in any wardrobe.
Sadly, the jeans no longer fit (hello post-partum), but I’m holding onto them for a rainy day 🙂
AYR slowly began making the rounds on social media in the last couple of years, in which I was reintroduced to the brand. To be honest, I’d kind of forgotten about them! Perusing their site, I was impressed by their expanded offerings and was particularly drawn to the shirts. Stripes are my love language, so I snagged the (see it worn in this blog post, in which I was pregnant) and the .
Initial thoughts
The AYR Deep End shirt is billed as a loose fitting shirt, but I was still a little worried that upon receiving it would be way too oversized. I was definitely wrong! It’s one of those crisp button-down shirts that makes you look and feel put together whenever you put it on.
Soft and comfortable for a classic and sophisticated look without trying too hard. It’s lightweight and one of those shirts you can reach for time and time again and feel happy with your choice. The stripes are super fun too! If I order another, I’d opt for a solid just because then it’d truly go with everything in my closet.
Fit & Quality
After checking out , I went ahead and ordered a small. It’s oversized, but it’s still tapered in the arms and the neck fits just right. I’m pleased with my size choice and would continue to order smalls in the future.
The fabric is crisp, yet lightweight. After 2020, I basically stopped taking things to the dry cleaners, and just wash this and almost everything else on gentle cycle… and either dry air fluff or air dry. Often I can wear my Deep End shirt right out of the dryer, but sometimes I’ll iron it for complete crispness.
It really is such a versatile top. Worn tucked into bottoms, hanging out or tied up in a knot. It’s also a great cover-up for the beach or pool.
worth the hype?
I’d say yes it’s worth the hype. In today’s day and age, a quality shirt that has staying power in your closet, and holds up for seasons to come, is usually around $100+. I snagged my Deep End shirt during a sale, so definitely keep your eye out for those types of promos.
I’m a sucker for blue AND stripes, so this shirt definitely screams A-L-E-X! The relaxed fit is also great because I wore it when I was pregnant and had a showing bump. I’m a huge fan of investment-pieces that have been able to transition from pre-pregnancy, pregnancy and post-partum. I own just a handful of pieces in my closet that fit this bill, and the AYR Deep End shirt is one of them.
If you’re looking for a classic, crisp button-down, that isn’t fitted, to add to your everyday wardrobe or a workwear rotation, I’d highly suggest the AYR Deep End button-down shirt. It’s versatile, yet also timeless. It doesn’t need to be dry-cleaned, and often times doesn’t even need to be ironed. A button-down shirt with those sorts of qualities is hard to find, and when you find it, you need to snag one (or three!).
