As I mentioned in last week’s outfit post (see here), New Orleans was seriously charming. I fell in love with The Crescent City all over again on my recent trip and had so much fun exploring the city. I wore this bell sleeved dress for my first full day in NOLA and have nothing but raves for it! In the heat and humidity, coupled with lots of walking, I want nothing more than a cool breathable dress to throw on and go.
I packed much lighter for this trip, albeit I did bring a few more pairs of shoes than usual because I knew I’d be walking… but I pretty much wore everything I packed. This navy bell sleeve dress was a serious winner for it’s ability to be both casual and look a little more dressy when flats are swapped out for wedges or heels.
As I mentioned, I wore this bell sleeve dress for my first full day of exploring. I started out my morning grabbing a coffee and quick breakfast with my mom at her hotel. When she headed to her conference meetings, I grabbed an Uber and headed down to Magazine Street. I walked a whopping 12 miles that first day (thanks for keeping track FitBit!) and stayed comfortable in the cotton dress and flats.
When I travel, especially if I know I’m going to be heading out for a full-day away from the hotel, I usually like to bring a larger tote along. Y’all, I am obsessed with this tote. It comes in a bevy of colors, I believe at last check there are four or five other colors available; it’s coated, durable and has a snap closure. Even better, it’s under $200! You can shop all available colors here.
Yes, my shoulder sometimes isn’t happy, but I was armed with everything I needed for the long day out. I brought along my jean jacket to throw on inside cooler restaurants and cars.
As someone who knows heat all too well, I always bring along a small arsenal in my bag. Including, but not limited to, a bottle of water, oil blotting sheets, chapstick, sunglasses, some setting powder, etc. Plus I carried along my camera, a small notebook, wallet (duh!), an RX bar and some headphones for good measure.
As I’ve mentioned before, my Chloe flats are the most trusty pair of flats I own. I’ve essentially worn them into the ground (literally), and am taking them to the cobbler this week to get resoled and cleaned up. I’ve done some digging and found a cute dupe pair, that’s currently on sale here. I can’t attest enough to going for comfort over cuteness when traveling. These flats and my Converse were on heavy rotation throughout my NOLA trip.
P.S. this adorable bell sleeve dress also comes in white! I know I’ll be wearing this dress through summer, it’s just too cute. Wishing you a great start to your week!
