Denim Jacket + Drop Waist Dress

Spring for me is pulling out the flouncy dresses, wearing my Jack Rogers sandals and topping it off with my trusty denim jacket.

A spring dress is a definite in any spring wardrobe. I love the flouncy, a shirt dress or drop-waisted types – all are figure-flattering and perfect for the changing temperatures.

A testament to a few tried and true closet staples… these Jack Rogers sandals are the first pair of Jack Rogers I owned – now I have about 8 pairs. They’re super special because my mom and I came across them on a trip to D.C. when we took a day trip to Annapolis, Maryland. I’ve always been rather preppy in my dress and style, so when I came across these sandals I knew I had to have them.

I was so stubborn that summer, I wore them all around D.C. to the monuments and to museums, and practically rubbed my heels raw trying to break them in. If you own a pair of Jacks, you know what I’m talking about with the leather! Needless to say, it was all worth it because they come with great memories and are by far some of the most comfortable sandals I own.

Secondly, this denim jacket has been a constant in my closet since, if my memory serves me correctly, I believe seventh grade. On a trip to Southern California, my mom and I went on a shopping trip to United Colors of Benetton and this denim jacket has made it through the cut after numerous closet purges and clean outs.

Ironically, it’s one of those pieces that has cycled through the trends. It’s funny to own something that was ‘on trend’ a decade or so ago, then landed in the back of my closet for sometime and now I wear it religiously as a classic.

I’ve said time and time again (checkout this post and this post for a refresher), if you’re going to make investments, please purchase staple pieces that you’ll want to wear over and over again. My leather sandals and denim jacket are a true testament to time and quality over quantity!
