There’s something that’s so timeless about a crisp white shirt and a pair of gingham ankle pants. I do love color, but I’ve found myself opting for classic black and white as of late – whether it be in stripes, gingham or solids. Gingham has definitely become super trendy as of late, but I’ve always found it to be a chic addition to any closet. You can last see a gingham piece I wore last fall, here.

A few weeks ago, the team at Lafayette148 invited me to a spring runway show at Neiman Marcus, plus graciously offered to dress me for the event. They have some seriously awesome pieces for spring, but I knew I wanted to go for separates that I could mix-and-match throughout the upcoming season. Any apparently the look was a hit, because I had people stopping me left and right!
I’ve mentioned this before, but being a shorty is tough. Quite frankly, unless you’re model perfect in form, a pair of pants is most likely not going to fit you off right off the rack. I ordered what I thought was my usual size in the pants, but actually these gingham ankle pants run about a size too big, and quite a few inches too long. If you have a trusted tailor, then this should be a relatively quick fix! Since I didn’t have time to get the pants taken in, I opted to wear my Hermes belt to cinch the waist… tricks of the trade!
Regardless, I definitely felt ultra modern and chic in this outfit, plus all bits of classic at the same time. I’ve already worn each of the pieces separately a handful of times and definitely encourage you to check out Lafayette148. The price points are a bit higher, but the quality is worth the extra dollars.
