Patio weather is finally here! So why not take the opportunity to whip up a fabulous, yet easy, drink that will have everyone asking for the recipe… and wanting seconds! When enjoying time outside, I like to sip on a cocktail that’s refreshing. Enter these tasty, and pretty, hibiscus lime cocktails, perfect for spring and summer. They’re super easy to make for a gathering and you could even sub out the Vodka for Rum or Tequila.
For me, I honestly get bored of the regular tonic/sprite/cranberry juice drink varietals, so when I get the chance to come up with a drink that’s unique, I’m all for it. Not only would these hibiscus lime cocktails pair well with grilled chicken or these shrimp skewers, but they’d also be super tasty paired with some chips and salsa.
Hibiscus Lime Cocktails
1/2 cup Vodka (or Rum/Tequila)
1/2 cup Hibiscus Agua Fresca (from Trader Joe’s, otherwise try steeping Hibiscus tea)
1/4 cup lime juice
1/3 cup water
1-2 fresh limes
fresh Mint to garnish
Measure out respective liquids into a cocktail shaker. Add more water and/or lime juice depending on how tart you’d like the drinks. Shake, shake, shake! Pour over ice and garnish with a fresh lime wheel and mint. You can also squeeze fresh limes into the drink for added refreshment.
If you don’t have a Trader Joe’s nearby, you can pick up Hibiscus flavored tea and steep the tea bag in boiling water for about 10 minutes. This will require some pre-prep as the boiling water will then need to be cooled in the refrigerator. Regardless, this refreshing cocktail will be sure to please whomever you serve it to, cheers!
