Let’s take a moment to be real here. How many of you have actually figured out to a science how to pack your jewelry when you travel? If you have, then I need you to tell me your ways; but really, while still not perfect, I’ve found a way to pack it almost perfectly thanks to my friends at Hudson+Bleecker. Your may remember some of their accessories from posts last year; last seen here.
Enter the travel jewelry organizer – travel pouch from Hudson+Bleecker that makes packing our important jewels and baubles oh so easy. Specialized compartments, holes specifically for hanging earrings, removable packs and zippered pockets. Genius, right?! As you can see I’m easily able to attach four pairs of dangly/statement type earrings on the leather strip – detachable too and doubles as a ring holder! My go-to Elaine Turner Jill Gold drop earrings lay perfectly flat in the space. Underneath the earring strips are two zippered pockets for smaller items such as post earrings or my beloved Julie Vos rings, like the Catherine Ring my dad gave to me this past Christmas. Plus the inside of the pouch is lined in a nice velour that will protect all your pieces during travel and give you piece of mind. I have tried a plethora of different types of jewelry cases, however I’ve found over my many years of travel that jewelry travel cases that zip rather than snap shut are ideal. The kind that snap shut often look deceivingly large, but they aren’t or they look normal sized, but once you get all your pieces inside it bulks out and is hefty to carry. Plus – I always carry my jewelry in my carry-on and I hope you do to!
Moving to the other side of the San Remo Rosso Stella jewelry case, there is a large zippered pocket for storage of other items such as necklaces, watches or bracelets. When I use my travel case for Fashion Week, I was worried that my dainty necklaces would get tangled. No such thing in this perfectly thought out travel case. Add in the detachable pouch for other items and you’re all set. Detach the pouch and carry it in your purse throughout the day for alternating jewels once the workday is over and it’s time for that date or happy hour with friends. Honestly, I fit about six bracelets, plus a watch and a necklace inside my detachable pouch. Just be weary that the more you put inside the large it will pouf out when you reattach it back inside the travel case. The entire travel case comes in at a nice 6.5″ square with a depth of 1.5″. I’ve even popped in pieces last minute and have room with the zipper aspect.
So in short, packing jewelry is a breeze with Hudson+Bleecker. Just make sure to compartmentalize your pieces, keep them organized and don’t let yourself get lazy by just throwing them back inside when you’ve worn them. Take the time to re-insert the posts of your earrings back into the slots or drop your more dainty and smaller pieces into the small zippered compartments; trust me, you’ll be thanking yourself later. Keep dainty necklaces organized and untangled by separating them out into small plastic baggies or little pouches (you often get them when you purchase a piece of jewelry; they give them to you for a reason!); carry-on your jewelry with you, please just don’t check it – that’s asking for someone to steal your suitcase and above all else, be selective. You’re going on a trip, you’ll have ALL your jewelry there when you return, so pick and choose those special pieces or statement pieces that will make for great outfits and perfect details in that memorable photo.
I’d love to hear if you have any jewelry packing suggestions!

Okay, I think I’m going to have to get myself one of these! I usually just dump everything into a ziploc and pray that I don’t lose anything!

What beautiful jewelry you have! yeah, I have to admit my packing method is “put in a small tiny plastic bag and hope for the best”. I get super paranoid about flying with jewelry, though, because I almost lost a bracelet on the TSA line. Luckily, a helpful stranger tapped me on the shoulder!
