For the longest time, I was under the assumption that as a petite gal, cropped kick flare jeans wouldn’t look good on my frame. I’m glad I opted to give the look a try because lately they’re all I’ve been wearing. So let’s chat how to wear cropped flare hem jeans, I’m sharing three tips below.
I’ve definitely noticed that not all cropped flare hem jeans are created equal. I’ve tried out a few brands that wear better than others. This might be different for each person, but as a petite woman with more of an athletic build, I’ve found two brands that work for me: Frame and Velvet by Graham & Spencer.
This pair of cropped kick pleat hem jeans have quickly become a favorite after coming across them on happenstance a few weeks ago during my trip to Orange County. They’re billed as high-waisted but I personally think they’re more mid-waist. For my 5’3 frame and torso this seems to wear better. Find a pair of cropped flare hem jeans that aren’t super high-waisted if you’re petite.
Another important how to when wearing cropped flare hem jeans is to pick out a pair that wears well with both flats and heels. The frayed hem on this pair looks cute dressed up or down. I’ve been wearing them non-stop these last few weeks of summer with my espadrille mule slides. But I’ve also been wearing these flare hem jeans with my favorite ankle-strap block heel sandals. One more tip to successfully wearing cropped flare hem jeans, is to do a little front tuck with whatever top you choose to pair with the denim. The front tuck has turned into more than just a way to tuck in your shirt. With the front tuck, you can accentuate the figure flattering fit of your cropped flare hem jeans. Plus, the front tuck also allows for a little juxtaposition between a top, like the flowy one I’m wearing, and the tapered leg of the jean that will flare out with the kick hem.
