It’s not often you catch me wearing slip on shoes/sneakers over here. But, I’ve been officially inducted into the Ilse Jacobsen Tulip shoes fan club, because they’re literally some of the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever owned and worn. I’ve received a lot of questions on these shoes, and wanted to put together my thoughts in one post, an official Adored by Alex Ilse Jacobsen Tulip shoes review. Read on to see why I love them!

To be perfectly honest, I was not into the looks of these shoes when I first saw them. I was told they’re extremely comfortable and a great travel shoe, but aesthetically I just didn’t really like the looks of them. I ended up not even trying them on until I saw them again a few months later. Let’s just say, I was initially fooled by the looks, because not only are these shoes super comfy, but they’re a fun alternative to sneakers and work with a variety of outfits.

Ilse Jacobsen Tulip Shoes Review
Comfort
I’ve heard people compare these shoes to walking on clouds, and they’re right! Not only are they extremely lightweight, but the natural rubber sole is lightweight and super flexible. Not one blister either! They only come in full sizes, so I sized down. But just a note, usually I always size down vs. sizing up on shoes. A lot of other people I’ve talked to actually size up if they usually size up in other shoes. If I were to take a trip to Europe, these would be the shoes I’d wear – comfortable and stylish!

Longevity
Made to last, the Tulip shoes are waterproof and they’re sewn together, not glued. The recycled microfiber used on the upper portion of the shoe also harkens to sustainability, which I’m definitely all about. Have you ever seen a chicer waterproof shoe? I think not!

Wearability
There’s a reason everyone, including myself, raves about these shoes by Nordic-based brand Ilse Jacobsen. You can wear them for hours on end. Truly, they’re the perfect everyday, throw on and go shoe for working on your feet all day or running after your kiddos. They’re also a great shoe for travel. Lightweight, plus they easily slip on and off when going through security. That’s a huge win in my book. Pair with a chambray dress like above, a pair of chino shorts or even white denim for a put together look.

If you’re local to Houston, you can swing by one of my favorite boutiques à bientôt to try on a pair for yourself.
My mom ended up sizing down as well, and has found that they’ve stretched a bit and adjusted to her foot. She now has 3 pairs! I personally have found myself reaching for my Tulip shoes when I wear dresses or shorts. It’s hot, hot right now, and the perforated fabric makes the shoes extra breathable. I’ve got my eye on a platinum neutral colored pair next!
