When GLOSSYBOX graciously reached out to me to review their June box, I couldn’t resist. Maybe I’m a little behind the bandwagon, but I haven’t really done many subscription box services, if any. I tried a jewelry one for a few weeks, but found it difficult to have to send things back or otherwise pay for them. With GLOSSYBOX and other similar monthly subscription boxes, you get the product to keep.
For just $21 a month, GLOSSYBOX is perfect for the gal on the go. Travel/sample sized products are the perfect way to trial out a new brand or a new type of makeup, cream, etc. I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again, I am a huge sucker for pretty packaging. Once I received my June box, I didn’t want to open it entirely – the packaging was rather thought out and just felt like a nice gift that I was so graciously receiving.
Something I really liked about the box is the little card included inside. A detailed description is given of each product along with pricing for a full size, should you love it and decide you can’t like without it, plus a fun little fact or tidbit about it. As you can see there is a little bit of everything in the box – which for me is something I enjoy. I am all over the place on products and just like to try things out!
Probably my two favorite products of the five in the box were the above – the Too Faced Mascara, cheekily called ‘better than sex’ and Etre Belle aloe vera ultra moisturizing gel. I’m a huge sucker for trying out different mascaras. I’ve been fortunate enough to be blessed with pretty long eyelashes, but that doesn’t mean I don’t swipe on some mascara before walking out the door. With every coat, my lashes became more enhanced and again, I am such a fan of getting a travel sized version of this product since I’ve been traveling so much. Aptly enough, I received this box and headed out to the beach for a Bachelorette party in Alabama. Let’s just say I wore my fare share of sunscreen (I’m a little bit paranoid about sunburns) but to no fail, I still got sunburnt on the more delicate parts of my skin. I have to say I’ve never thought about buying an aloe vera more expensive than that of the large bottles at the drug store. This aloe vera by Etre Belle was a little sticky, but it noticeably moisturized my legs and shoulder area with every application. I did experience a little burning on my legs after applying 24 hours after my sunburn, the next day.Â
One other product I can’t live without in my daily makeup routine is a little bronzer and blush. This Doucce brush is perfect for both products and the fibers don’t shed with every application. I found the brush to be both fluffy and soft and can’t wait to bring it along on future travels. My one wish is that the brush had a top to carry along in my purse and not fear of transfer onto my makeup bag or accessories.
I’m not going to lie, I am not a big nail polish purchaser. But I love the shade of the Orly nail lacquer for summer. P.S., how cute is the mini size?! It’s perfect to carry in a purse for the occasional touch up, that I no doubt will have. I am usually a shellac gal on my fingers, but I love a good color on my toes and will definitely be bringing this polish along to the nail salon later this week for my pedicure.
For the final product in my GLOSSYBOX, the Aloe Source Luminosity Masque, again is just what the doctor ordered for my summer skin that’s been out in the sun and brutally dry. I love a good, gentle exfoliant. I actually applied this gel masque, left on for a few minutes and then scrubbed it off with my Clarisonic (on sale!) to gently exfoliate the dead skin cells off my face. Needless to say, it definitely left my face luminous and refreshed. Lauren Anderson photography
Would I recommend GLOSSYBOX? Absolutely! Yes, it is a little more expensive than it’s competitors, but for that you can see the difference in the type of products you receive. Higher-end, more luxurious products that you may not splurge on when out browsing the makeup section. However, the team at GLOSSYBOX has been gracious enough to offer ABA readers 15% off their first month of GLOSSYBOX. Here’s your chance to try out the subscription service for yourself and see what you think! Simply use code: ABA15 – would love to hear what you think! xx
