I was welcomed to NYC last week with snow flurries as we hailed an Uber at La Guardia. I had all plans to hop on over to the Hunter Bell presentation, but with the weather, it just wasn’t going to be possible. So my photographer Lauren and I, changed and hopped in a cab over to Madison Avenue for a visit to the mecca – the Kate Spade Flagship!
I personally had never been to this store, so I wasn’t sure what to expect and was rather excited. Kelly (the best personal stylist ever, seriously give her a call or stop by and ask for her and tell her I sent you!) greeted us and quickly helped us shed our plethora of layers so we could begin perusing the four-story store. We ultimately ended up on the fourth floor where flutes of Kate Spade 20th Anniversary rose were handed to us, and like princesses we were whisked into their VIP room for the ultimate experience to kickoff NYFW!
Even though it was snowing outside, I had the pleasure of previewing the latest Madison Ave. Collection, where I was immediately transported to a place filled with warmer-temperatures, bold prints and classic colors. In case you weren’t aware (I wasn’t!) the Madison Ave. Collection is a limited edition collection sold only online, by calling a stylist or in the Madison Avenue flagship store, 789 Madison Ave.
This two-piece, floral-striped top & striped skirt, immediately caught my eye as it was aptly displayed on the mannequin, and I knew I had to try it on. Normally, I know a midi-skirt doesn’t exactly work for my body type. At only 5’3, they most always fall awkwardly at my knees or sit unflatteringly on my hips; but not this striped beauty. Again, I’ve mentioned this before, (here & here) but the crop trop trend hasn’t exactly been calling my name, but this stripe Lummi top paired almost perfectly over the stripe Lysa skirt for a millimeter hint of midriff and a charming two-piece ensemble to chase away all my numbness from the cold snow falling outside.
Of course this gal couldn’t help but A) be obsessed over this entire look; B) want to try even more of the Madison Ave. Collection hanging on the racks so beautifully in front of me as I continued to tell both Kelly and Lauren the craftsmanship and beauty of the pieces were strikingly similar to that of a higher-end design house like Oscar de la Renta or Carolina Herrera, but at a fraction of their price tags; and C) pretend I was in a Kate Spade dreamland and continue to sip flutes of their 20th Anniversary sparking rose, while reclining on the plush couches as snow came down and cab horns tooted on by (well that actually kind of was happening…) Don’t fret, I tried on more (quite a bit more; I couldn’t help myself!) and will be back in the coming days with a few other Madison Ave. Collection looks! xx
Special thanks to Kelly and everyone else at the Kate Spade Madison Avenue NYC store for assisting with this post. If you like what you see, call 212-988-0259 and ask for stylist Kelly C.
