Good morning friends, how was your weekend?? A little late, but wanted to share my January makeup favorites. Each of these products has been a go-to the last month, and I thought I’d share my thoughts on each – giving you a more to-the-chase review on each and my recommendations on if you should purchase or not.
Drunk Elephant skincare: C-Firma Day Serum, Night Serum, Facial Oil c/o via Sephora // Donna Karen deodorant // L’Oreal Voluminous mascara c/o // Dior Lip Balm // Chapstick Total Hydration c/o
First up, the L’Oreal Voluminous Feline Noir mascara. Full disclosure, I received this mascara as part of a box of products to review. I am usually skeptical of drugstore branded makeup, unless someone has previously tried and recommended. However, y’all, this mascara is the bomb.
See the tighter brush, it really gets mascara in all the right places on my lashes. I continually receive compliments every time I wear this mascara and find myself reverting back to it again and again. Oh, p.s. it’s only $9. And I’ve tired a bevy of mascaras (see reviews here); I’d rank this right up there with the best-of-best (in my humble opinion) mascaras from a department store or Sephora.
I rated this product one of the highest for review in the Beauty Awards on Aol.com. Catch all the nominees and favorites here. I love supporting local brands, and Drunk Elephant skincare falls under that description. Available at Sephora this line is a game changer. I brought these little travel-friendly bottles along with me on our honeymoon and quickly fell in love. I could totally tell a difference in my complexion after a few days of steady use. Did I mention it’s a non-toxic skincare line?? Major plus!
The T.L.C. Â Frambose Glycolic Night serum is the perfect weight and helped my skin feel refreshed and protected after days spent in the sun. I would apply a dime size after cleansing each night.
Following the serum I put on the Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil. I have to say, I’ve read things about facial oil but until using this product, I had never tried oil on my face. Y’all serious game changer. My face felt uber moisturized and would remain that way until I woke up in the morning. Especially after spending days in the saltwater and sun, I could feel my face regenerating and healing. I am a huge proponent!
After waking up and washing my face with fresh water I applied the C-Firma Day Serum as part of my morning routine. I really loved the weight of it and it feels great under my moisturizer/SPF. Two thumbs up to Drunk Elephant skincare, definitely a part of my recent makeup favorites. I snagged this deodorant on a whim a few months ago and was a bit weary about trying it. I’ve been a Secret or Dove girl through and through, but wanted to try something with a bit more of a fresh scent. Let’s just say this Donna Karen deodorant is Rick approved, as every time I wear it I get a, “what is that smell? You smell so good!” response.
I generally wear this deodorant when I know I’m not doing any major exertions for the day. I wouldn’t recommend for a workout or a day outside, but this scent and deodorant is perfect for the easy day and smells unbelievably divine. If there’s any product I’m a huge junkie of, it’s lip balm. I have tried everything; you name it, it’s probably in my drawer. I was recently turned on to the Dior Creme de Rose Smoothing Plumping Lip Balm. Usually I am a Jo Malone addict, but I decided to try this after my disappointment with the La Mer balm. Y’all this product is a serious game changer.
I don’t know abbot you, but I deal with what I like to call ‘chronic cracked lip’ where my lips are constantly cracking or dried out. I’ve tried so much and really nothing works long-term. However this Dior lip balm is so entirely worth the price. I take my forefinger and ‘whip it’ up a tad, essentially warming the balm up before applying to my lips morning and night.
I have noticed a serious change in my lips, less dry and more supple. I will continue to try this product out, but so far so good! Finally, another product I was sent to review, ChapStick Total Hydration Moisture + Tint formula is a must-try. Another drugstore beauty purchase, this balm is a serious game changer. As we all know, there are a lot of tint moisturizers and balms on the market. Some work as noted but most personally leave my lips dry after a few hours of wear. This product does not. I absolutely love the Rose Petal shade, it’s perfect for my complexion. I’ve found myself reaching for it over lipstick or gloss on a regular basis for the added hydration and tint. Yet another drugstore beauty purchase I highly recommend!
And there you have it, my top beauty buys and makeup favorites for January and February. What do you think? Have you personally tied any of these products? I’m curious to know from you if you find this post helpful and would like me to start a regular beauty must-haves review each month. If so, let me know in the comments or email me!
