I don’t think I could call myself a makeup loyalist. I’ve been blessed with tan skin and was taught at an early age to take care of it – of course that was tough when laying out by the pool or golfing in the sun was a regular part of my childhood growing up in Arizona. I’m guilty of hopping around different makeup lines and finding something here and there that I’ll usually stick with until I finish it off, but honestly it may take me more than just a few months to finish a product. There are often days that I don’t wear anything but a tinted moisturizer, bronzer, blush and mascara. Thanks mom and dad for the awesome genes – namely the Venezuelan blood from my dad’s side!Â
Enter Glo Minerals whom generously sent me some various products to try out and review. It was perfect timing as summer has been rearing it’s head here in Houston – with erratic weather – and trips down to the beach, and most recently my trip to the Grand Cayman (more on that later!). My skin gets all too dry really all the time, but  especially in the summer when I am out in the sun. I am generally weary of tinted moisturizer here in Houston because it needs to be thin, not gloppy or heavy in the thick humidity – hello unwelcome oily t-zone! However, the Glo Therapeutics moisturizing tint with SPF has been just what I’ve been looking for in terms of an everyday tinted moisturizer. Since I turned 16 or so, I’ve been pretty freaked out by the thought of skin cancer (anyone remember reading Seventeen or Teen Vogue and there were stories of young girls going through skin cancer, photos of their faces with all the sun damage specially demonstrated to freak a girl like me out?! Well it worked…) Whether it’s raining or not I am wearing my Glo Minerals tinted moisturizer in medium. Another thing that’s super important to me is a tinted moisturizer that not only outlasts a day of wear, but ALSO doesn’t rub off on my clothes or the side of my phone screen.
Along with a compact powder and base-face primer to ready my skin even more for a full day ahead, came the discovery of something I may not be able to ever live without – the Revive Hydration Mist. I swore by this baby the whole entire time we were in Grand Cayman. I did a really good job of keeping both myself and my boyfriend Rick from getting sunburnt – but swimming in the ocean and spending time in the sun still takes it out of you and beats up your skin – no matter how much water you drink! I sprayed my face neck and even shoulders with the Moist Hydration Mist both at morning and at night. The wonderful thing about it was again, I felt no gloppy-goo residue on my face and could feel my skin retaining the moisture. I currently am keeping this spray in my purse for regular use.
As I said to begin, I really keep my makeup routine to a minimum when it’s simply daily wear. One thing I’ve come to heavily rely on is a good moisturizer and a powder bronzer. I’ve used Glo Minerals bronzer every single day since receiving and cannot rave more about it. The perfect hint of bronze tint, with not an over saturation of shimmer or heaviness when applied to the apples of my cheeks or brushed across my t-zone. I just love it! And of course ladies, don’t skimp out on brushes either – they are just as important as good makeup and taking care of them often is just as advisable. I am guilty of not cleaning my makeup brushes nearly as much as I should, but have made a promise to myself to get into the habit.
