Let’s take a flashback Friday moment here and head back to February to a little New York Fashion Week recap!
I’ve been so busy as of late that this post fell through the cracks, however I figure better late than never right?
Again, February in New York City… why do I do this to myself? You’d think I would’ve learned after February 2015, one of the coldest on record. But no, I chose to come back to NYC and frolic around the city when it became one of the coldest weekends on record with temperatures in the negatives.
Yep, this Arizona born & raised gal ran around NYC in bare legs, pumps and the like all for Fashion Week. The things you do for fashion, right?
But, I digress. I flew up to NYC solo this season and it couldn’t have been more fantastic. I dictated my own schedule, had no one to take care of so-to-speak and had hotel rooms all to myself! I chose to stay with The Library Collection hotels again this season (last seen here) and couldn’t have been more happy with my choice.
For the first few days of NYFW I stayed at The Casablanca Hotel, a charming little boutique hotel just steps away from Times Square. Normally, I wouldn’t be so into staying right next to one of the most touristy places in the city, but I really hadn’t spent a lot of time in that area since I was a little girl so I thought it’d be fun to re-explore.
Once I checked into my adorable room, I decided to venture out and walked towards the tents to get my bearings. I like to have some knowledge of the city I am in, and let’s just say that I am super proud of myself – after three seasons at NYFW, I can finally say that I know my way around the city and directions without using Google Maps every 2.5 seconds.
The Casablanca, just like its collection counterparts has the best complimentary breakfast and evening wine-time for their guests. When it’s freezing outside (or really when it’s not either), it’s so nice to just take the elevator down a couple of levels to the intimate lounge for some hot coffee and pastries or a glass of wine and cheese.
Let me tell you, fueling up before a day filled with meetings, runway shows and presentations is an absolute must. There were days that I’d go without eating anything but breakfast until 8 or 9 at night! So I was all about the adorable breakfast at The Casablanca where I could lounge in comfort with my coffee and catch up on the latest news in the New York Times. Bekka Palmer photography

Again, as I mentioned above, I enjoyed being right next to the hustle and bustle of Times Square for this trip. Perhaps it was because I traveled to New York alone this time around, so I enjoyed how busy the area was near the hotel.
We snapped these photos on the second-most freezing day! Don’t be fooled, I’m wearing about three layers underneath this jumpsuit. But it had me dreaming of spring with the pinks and florals. After we shot, I hopped in a cab and headed over to the tents for the Zimmermann and Giulietta New York runway shows for fashion week.
I received so many compliments on this look thanks to my friends at Styling On Showroom. I was comfortable and felt chic in something other than pants and bulky sweaters layered under coats.
