Hair & Makeup c/o via Pucker – NYC
As I mentioned in previous New York Fashion Week posts the past few weeks, it was downright freezing in NYC during the shows. What better way to make a statement in the cold than a vintage Hudson Bay Company coat from my friends at Cheeky Vintage.
Of course, as the temperatures dropped, I began to lose my layers and decided to wear a skirt and pumps on day two. A little nuts I know, especially when the temps hovered below freezing on Friday. But, what can I say? #FreezingforFashion, duh.
Time and time again I turn to one of my favorites Cheeky Vintage, for unique pieces that make a statement. I wore vintage last season at NYFW (see here, here and here) and in February of 2015 (see here). Whenever I wear vintage, whether it’s home or on the streets of NYC, I always receive tons of compliments. That might be one of my favorite things about vintage, it provokes conversation and thought!
As for this primary color striped wool coat, I had my eye on it for months at Cheeky Vintage, and knew when I finalized my fashion week plans that it had to be mine. I had been referring to it fondly as my Paddington Bear coat, but I had so many people share with me that it reminded them of a blanket and print that they had seen growing up decades ago. That’s when I realized that my coat is vintage Hudson Bay Company, complete with the most adorable toggles!
In between shows I had the chance to hop into a cab over to Pucker in Soho for some much needed pampering. Co-owner Julio did the most amazing makeup application, a little drama and color for the freezing day and my bold street style look. My waves were retouched with a curling wand to finish off the look. I highly recommend Pucker for both makeup and hair – a one-stop shop!
Nestled along the streets of Soho, I just loved the vibe of the studio and better yet, they have their own makeup line which I adore! I snagged the lipstick and lipgloss for later use. Adding back on the polka-dot, veiled beanie was the cherry on top for the dramatic makeup and perfect beach waves. I received so many compliments on the look! Plus, I was snapped by Racked.com and featured in their street style round-up, see it here.
If I haven’t convinced you that vintage is the way to go, then you need to hop on over to Cheeky Vintage’s website and take advantage of a great promo code available for Adored by Alex readers only! Mention Adored by Alex either in-store or online, and you’ll receive 20% off one full-priced item! Might I suggest this adorable long black feather vest or these high-waisted paisley palazzo pants for spring, too cute!
