Years ago, my grandmother taught me how to make a fresh apple pie. She even taught me how to make homemade crust. So for me, fresh apple pie has become synonymous with holiday cheer and celebration.
However, the one things that’s always been a struggle for me, is making the homemade pie crust. It either rolls out too thin and cracks or isn’t flaky enough once baked.
So to keep things simple when I’m baking for the holidays, I purchased Using the store-bought crust makes my pie baking easier, and I can put my efforts into making the fresh apple filling for my simple holiday fresh apple pie. Plus, it rolls out easily and is so flaky and delicious once baked!
Can you sense a common theme here? I strive to eliminate stress in a variety of ways during the holidays. Along with simplifying my pie baking, another way I eliminate stress is by purchasing in bulk (this pack includes 6 crusts!) makes it straightforward to have all my holiday baking necessities on hand, either by purchasing in-store or via a grocery delivery app order.
Between cooking and baking during the holidays, I usually go through quite a bit of the pantry staples, so I like to buy in bulk. Being able to purchase is perfect for my cooking needs throughout the season and beyond.

By eliminating the need to create a homemade pie crust, I can focus my time and efforts on the delicious apple pie filling! For my simple holiday fresh apple pie, I like to use Granny Smith apples. The filling is simple, but takes time to peel, core and slice each apple. There’s no need to simmer the apples or cook up a sugar and spice syrup. Simply toss the sliced apples in sugar, flour and spices, fill the pie dish and bake.
Of course, there are a few additional steps included, but you can catch those in the full recipe below!

The Pillsbury rolled pie crust is my mom and my family secret when it comes to backing! We love to bake and usually make everything from scratch, but when my mom discovered the pillsbury crusts it was a game changer!! We now hardly ever make our own crust and without fail when we make a pie everyone comments on how delicious the crust is and even asks for the recipe. It gives my husband such delight to joke “oh yes, super secret family recipe that we can’t share…. but you can buy it ;)”.
And thank you pillsbury for making it a rolled dough and not the folded like it was back in the day! Much simpler to roll out!

My grandmother, too! Exactly what we would say – it’s a secret, family recipe! Haha, too funny! So glad you use it, too.

I just wish Pilsbury would take the dyes out of the pie crusts. Why do you need food dye in a product that is already white.
Because of that I have not bought their product in ten years.

Your pie looks amazing! I love to bake, but unfortunately have not been able to master a pie crust. I admit that I usually buy the pre-made ones and make the filling. 🙁 I guess it just means I have to practice more!

I love apple pie but I have never tried to make one. My mother started using the rolled pie crust recently because her homemade crust started rising to the top of her pecan pies and they were not as good like that. After seeing your recipe I will be making my next apple pie because it looks fairly simple. I have made apple dumplings, that I wasn’t sure how they would be, and they are so delicious. Thanks for sharing your recipe.
