Have you ever seen something that you knew instantly would fit your aesthetic? For me, that was this Susan Albright dress. And while I have my issues with Instagram, every so often, there is a beauty to the platform in discovering people, places or things that I might otherwise never know about. A few months ago, I stumbled upon the South Carolina-based fashion designer and print-maker account of Susan Albright, and fell in love.

I say it time and time again, summers in Houston are hot AND humid. My jeans get tucked away, and breezy dresses fill up my wardrobe rotation. I love a loose dress, but there’s something to be said about a dress that still has a little structure and shows off a figure. Enter the Susan Albright Goodwood dress. A perfect breezy, yet tailored, summer look.
Without a doubt, one of the most flattering dresses I own. I’m obsessed with this dress. It looks amazing on, is oh so flattering, and I feel like a million bucks whenever I wear it. It helps, that strangers always comment on how adorable it is, too. I’m wearing a small, and as you can see the neckline is flattering, there’s also room to stay comfy after a dinner out, and it has pockets!
Susan Albright pieces are created in small batches, and all her prints are custom-created. Because of that, chances are you won’t see anyone wearing a similar style, and to me that’s so special! However, keep in mind that as a small designer, the pieces are custom-created and take a few weeks from order to fulfillment. It’s certainly a dying breed, keeping things small and in-house, and a characteristic that I certainly applaud in today’s fast-fashion day and age.
One of my favorite parts about my little corner of the Internet is introducing y’all to brands and creators you might not otherwise know about. So if you’re in the market for a fun and whimsical printed dress, bag or home decor piece, Susan Albright is a brand you should know about. And if you ever find yourself in Pawley’s Island, be sure to stop in to her brick & mortar shop!

I love hearing how the Goodwood makes you feel when you wear it. That is why I do what I do. And the seamstresses that I work with are seriously skilled (smart snd fun, too) women who love making these dresses. I think you can feel all that love and those good vibes!
