Perhaps you’re a Houston resident… then you know we’re blessed with this sweet spot time, from March to early June, where doing outdoor activities is imperative.
Since the weather is so nice, we’ve got to take advantage of it before the heat and humidity of summer arrives. Perhaps today I can inspire you to put together an easy outdoor picnic this season, along with my must-haves, like the bubba® Trailblazer with Straw water bottle from , for an enjoyable alfresco experience!
It’s been a few years since I last did a picnic. Actually, the last time I had a picnic was during our honeymoon to the British Virgin Islands, where our hotel put together a lovely setup for Rick and I to enjoy. I’ll never forget how much fun and memorable that picnic was—between the delicious eats and the gorgeous weather, it was a picnic to remember.
With that former picnic experience in mind, I put together a fun and easy outdoor picnic to enjoy here in Houston before the weather gets too hot to spend time outside. Along with my picnic setup, I’ve come up with three of my must-have essentials for a perfect outdoor picnic.
1. Stay hydrated with the bubba Trailblazer with Straw
The heat and humidity can sneak up on you in Houston, so making sure your picnic basket is filled with hydrating essentials is imperative. Packing the bubba Trailblazer with our picnic items ensures our drinks are cold for 24 hours with no condensation, thanks to vacuum-insulated, dual-wall stainless steel. I don’t have to worry about leaks, either, since the leak-proof lid keeps things mess free. My favorite part about the bottle is its large capacity, which means fewer refills and less time spent worrying about running out of water and searching for a water fountain to refill. I picked up our bubba bottles at our neighborhood in the kitchenware department, where all four vibrant colors were available and easy to find. Want to grab a bubba Trailblazer with Straw for your own picnic or other outdoor adventures? Check it out in-store at your local Walmart or —now on rollback for $12.96.
2. Pack easy-to-enjoy snacks
Picnics are fun for their relaxed nature. Make sure you keep your food items simple with easy-to-eat finger foods and snacks. My picnic basket includes silverware and plates, but I tend to like to opt for finger foods like cheese and nuts that can be easily picked up and enjoyed without the need to use a fork and knife. I always include grapes or pre-sliced apples or oranges in my basket, too. Plus, I never forget a sweet treat like cookies or brownies—also easy to eat with your hands and perfect for indulging my sweet tooth.
3. Invest in a cozy blanket or quilt
In my opinion, no picnic is complete without a blanket or soft quilt to lay out and sit on during a picnic in the park. I like to use this blue throw because it wears and washes well, plus it’s soft to sit and lay on during our alfresco dining. I’m not worried about it getting stained or dirty because I know it’s easy to take care of and will most likely be free of grass or dirt after a spin in the washer. While my picnic blanket can easily fit two people, I’ve been thinking about investing in a larger quilt for our picnics so we can easily accommodate our dog, Lucy, along with other friends—the more the merrier!
Now, I hope you take these three tips for an easy outdoor picnic and run with them this season. Don’t forget to remember to stay hydrated, too. That’s why I recommend grabbing a bubba water bottle that’s big enough to maximize every moment of outdoor adventures, without needing to stop for a refill!
