Traveling across multiple time-zones can be tricky. I wanted to be very prepared as far as my skin regime goes when I traveled to Dubai in August. Traveling with Dermalogica in my makeup bag made things super easy when it came to my skin – I was worried about keeping myself hydrated and protected – but had no problems at all sticking when I stuck to these Dermalogica products. pillow // passport case // moisturizer
The flight from Houston non-stop to Dubai was a lengthy 15-hours. I came prepared with tons of essentials in my carry-on but the most important for me was staying hydrated and moisturized. I allowed myself two glasses of red wine, which I know many say is a no-no on long flights, but I am not the best long-flight taker… so I need something to calm my nerves just a tad. I relaxed a bit further by watching a movie and nursing lots of H2O.
Finally when I could feel the need for sleep creep up on me (about 4 hours into the flight), I headed to the restroom with an arsenal of essentials to keep my evening routine at home as similar as I could while on an overseas flight. I washed my face, took out my contacts, brushed my teeth, the usual, however I applied ample amounts of Dermalogica Active Moist all over my freshly cleansed face, up to my ears and down on my neck. This cream has just the right amount of weight, enough to know your getting hydration but by no means sticky, oily or heavy. I then applied the Renewal Lip Complex to my lips and headed off for what ended up being very sporadic sleep.hydramist
You may recognize the building in the distance, it’s one of the most iconic buildings of Dubai, the Burj al Arab. We stayed on the Palm, a manmade island shaped like a palm tree, complete with the trunk, palm fronds and all. On certain parts of the island you have this perfectly clear view of the Burj on a clear day. Â You can see the haze in the distance; almost every day I was in Dubai it was rather hazy. The combination of the extreme heat coupled with the desert region tends to do that. With my regular routine for morning and night I knew I still needed to keep my skin extra hydrated, more than usual, so I often carried around the Dermalogica antioxidant hydramist to refresh my makeup and skin throughout the hot and sunny days. Also, conveniently comes in a travel size!

My lips are almost always dry. Not in the gross cracking way, but I just constantly am moisturizing them. I had never used Dermalogica lip balm before, but this Lip Complex became a saving grace. I carried it everywhere with me and used it at least three times a day plus an application before I went to bed every night. The twist up formula is more like a gel, but not heavy or odd tasting like other formulas you might find at a drugstore. Give the Renewal Lip Complex a quick twist and the product comes out of six separate small pin holes to easily spread across with the correct amount.sunglasses // primer
Recognize this iconic structure? The Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building served as a backdrop for my entire Sunday in Dubai, as we spent it at the world-reknowned Dubai mall shopping, indulging in high tea at Fortnum Mason, taking the elevator to the top of the Burj Khalifa observation decks and indulging in a delicious thai meal at The Palace Hotel overlooking the fountain show every 20 minutes or so. I used the Dermalogica Skinperfect Primer every single day of my trip. With the SPF 30, I knew it would be perfect to help protect my skin while out in the sun and gave a little tint to my base before applying makeup. It’s SO lightweight! I would also apply the Dermalogica Total Eye Care with SPF 15 product underneath my eyes as well to brighten them up and moisturize before putting on my makeup.
Would I recommend Dermalogica? Absolutely. Whether it be for everyday use, which is the case now that I am home for the foreseeable future and back to where my skin is used to the climate, or for traveling wherever the wind blows us, Dermalogica provided ample protection, hydration and ease of use.
