Although Labor Day usually is the unofficial marker for the end of summer, the first day of fall isn’t officially until later this month! With that being said, we’ve all probably wondered what to wear during that in-between time of summer and fall. I know I personally wonder what to wear to weddings! So, here’s an idea of what to wear to a late-summer wedding and why I chose this darling dress.Â

It’s no secret around here that I love stripes. So of course, I’m going to tell you to wear something a bit bold or colorful to a late-summer wedding, because why not? It’s your last chance to get in one of those fun dresses you picked up earlier in the summer and just can’t stop wearing. Plus, you’ll be bound to receive multiple compliments!
Also, when I plan out what to wear to a late-summer wedding, I like to keep in mind a dress that will wear well when dancing and something that will keep me cool (especially if the ceremony is outside!). The faux halter neckline on this striped dress is perfect, because it’s comfortable and has staying power. I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve worn a dress because it was cute, only to have it loosen up or be uncomfortable the entire wedding.
We have the rest of the fall and winter season to wear long, formal dresses, so if the wedding allows for it why not wear a shorter, flirty cocktail dress instead? When thinking about what to wear to a late-summer wedding ask yourself the following: Do I already own a dress in my closet that will work for the occasion? Can I wear a dress that’s cocktail length and feel appropriate for the dress code? Chances are, it’s late-summer, you already have a dress in your closet that you can wear and love! So I highly suggest you take a deep dive into that closet of yours and find something fun and comfortable to wear, that you already own… because it’s always fun to re-discover a dress again, right?
