If you’ve been around these parts for awhile, then you’ll know that one of my favorite things to do is travel. However, prepping for trips is always the least glamorous part! It’s taken me a number of trial and errors, but I’ve finally figured out the best tricks. Read on to learn my 3 tips for packing jewelry when traveling.

Personally, I carry my jewelry with me and on me, while traveling. I like to keep it organized in a travel jewelry case, that way there’s no reason for things to get misplaced or separated. I’ll keep the travel case inside my handbag or carry-on tote. Of course every gal is different in terms of how much jewelry they wear or bring along on their travels, but I like to have options. I’m someone who changes out my earrings often and usually based on what I’m wearing.
Tips for Packing Jewelry When Traveling
Consider which pieces of jewelry you pack
I try to pull pieces that I know I can wear with most, if not all of my outfits. Sometimes I’ll even edit down, the morning of my flight, to avoid overpacking jewelry. Remember, these pieces are small but all packed together, they can get heavy! I usually wear a lot of bracelets or earrings, so I try to keep my daytime earrings at a minimum – more often I wear the same dainty pair throughout the trip. Then I bring a few options for nighttime earrings. I don’t wear many rings anymore, except my wedding rings, so again, I keep my jewelry limited to bracelets and earrings.
One jewelry case does not fit all
Like I mentioned above, figuring out my routing for packing jewelry when I travel took a lot of trial and error. I’ve tried everything from ziplock baggies to expensive jewelry rolls, you name it! I’ve tried jewelry holders that claim to save space and ones that may take up more space, too. Let me just say, each jewelry case has its pros and cons. What may work for me, might not work for you!
With that being said, I love this travel jewelry train case by . I’m someone who likes compartments and different slots for my items. I don’t tend to travel with necklaces, so for me, I like a jewelry travel case that has plenty of room for earrings and bracelets. What I love about this case is the different zipper compartments, variety of slots for bracelets and holes for pairs of earrings. It takes a little time to put it together before the trip, but it’s well worth it.
Pack dainty pieces inside individual pouches within your jewelry case
As an extra precaution for dainty or expensive pieces, I like to use little pouches (usually the ones that come with jewelry such as Kendra Scott), to keep track of those special pieces. Packing them in these pouches serves as an added precaution, so they don’t get lost within your jewelry case. I use additional pouches as needed.
